Extending Atlanta’s most iconic headquarters beyond the
building envelope.

HGOR designed a series of courtyard spaces at the Coca-Cola’s Atlanta headquarters to support a wide range of experiences from informal daily interaction to large-scale corporate events. The project transforms underutilized rooftop space into a dynamic, multi-functional environment that extends the workplace outdoors. Through careful coordination with adjacent interior programs, the courtyards create a cohesive and highly adaptable environment that supports collaboration, social engagement, and organizational culture. Additionally, the courtyard design playfully integrates brand identity into the landscape by designing the spaces to reflect the iconic silhouette of a Coke bottle when viewed from the high-rise office floors.

Supporting Workplace
Through Design

The courtyards play a central role in shaping the day-to-day experience of the workplace, offering flexible environments that support employee well-being, collaboration, and company-wide events. The overall composition allows spaces to operate independently or collectively, providing flexibility to accommodate diverse programming. Seating and gathering areas are intentionally distributed throughout the space to encourage interaction, while supporting both focused and social use.

Each courtyard is directly connected to surrounding first-floor uses—including arrival areas, meeting spaces, dining, and circulation corridors—creating a continuous flow between interior and exterior environments. By thoughtfully extending activity beyond the building envelope, the design strengthens organizational culture and reinforces the courtyards as an extension of the workplace rather than a separate amenity.

Elevated, On-Structure Design

Built as an on-structure landscape, the project required careful coordination of structural, drainage, and planting systems. The multi-functional green roof incorporates refined design elements—including custom drapery and a shadowbox green wall—that enhance both the visual character and experiential quality of the space while maintaining performance and durability.
