Coolidge Park

Coolidge Park

This award winning river front park was conceived through the combined efforts of HGOR and the River Front Development Committee. Master planning and design efforts focus on optimizing greenspace adjacent to Chattanooga’s fundamental aquatic asset, the Tennessee River. The master plan provides major open space, stabilization of the river front area and increased connectivity through an extensive walkway system. The imbued pedestrian-oriented connectivity synchronizes with Coolidge Park’s role as part of the Tennessee Riverwalk, a 13-mile long public waterfront greenway.

Design intent further developed a unique ambiance sought out by tourists and appreciated by locals and the surrounding residential community, who now experience an improved streetscape and public park on a regular basis.

Features specific to Coolidge Park include the “Learning Walk,” a one thousand linear foot-interpretive trail, a restored antique carousel, an interactive water feature and docking facilities. Located in the hub of the city’s entertainment district, the multi-functional park also serves as a venue for local concerts, festivals and special events.
